Step into the world of your heroes at Semmel Exhibitions and Marvel’s latest production, Marvel: Earth's Mightiest Exhibition / Marvel: Te Whakaaturanga Mārohirohi o Te Ao, at Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre until the 28^th of April.

Te Whanganui-a-Tara will host the global premiere of Marvel: Earth’s Mightiest Exhibition as part of the UNESCO City of Film’s continuing world-class offerings of pop culture and cinema.

Curated by Ben Saunders and Patrick Reed and considered the most comprehensive exhibition of art, artefacts, and interactive opportunities ever displayed in the Southern Hemisphere, the exhibition features some of the most well-loved superheroes and their villains, including the Hulk, Spider-Man, Venom, Ghost Rider, and Doctor Strange.

“We want audiences to feel like they’re part of the Marvel Universe,” Reed says. “Whether you’re a lifelong comic reader, a casual fan who has seen a couple of Marvel movies, or somebody who knows nothing about superheroes, there’s something in this show that you’ll find interesting.”

Visitors will be transported into the Marvel Universe through a mix of immersive installations, original items, and photo ops. Journey through the streets of New York and to the farthest reaches of space to encounter the iconic characters and stories that have graced pages and screens for decades.

“The first Marvel comic book was published almost 85 years ago, and there’s been so much amazing work, so many wonderful stories and characters, so many brilliant creators, that we could fill entire museums and still not cover it all,” Reed continues. “The most difficult thing in working on these projects isn’t figuring out what to include, but what to leave out.”

Marvel: Earth’s Mightiest Exhibition places some of the rarest paraphernalia on display, including an original copy of the first Marvel Comics #1, published in 1939.

Wellington Mayor Tory Whanau says the world premiere will add to the city’s already-impressive global reputation in the entertainment industry, adding that “we are definitely primed and ready to welcome more than 175,000 people expected to flock to Marvel: Earth's Mightiest Exhibition. Bring it on.”

Laurie Foon, Deputy Mayor of Wellington, is also looking forward to the out-of-this-world experience, anticipating that Marvel: Earth's Mightiest Exhibition will “attract visitors from around the motu and international guests too and will continue to build on Pōneke’s impressive global reputation as an entertainment and film industry powerhouse.”
