Play and slay _{by Isabella Smith}

Welcome to Myrtle’s Red Room: A Spooky Cult-Classics Drag Show paying tribute to all your favourite characters from Twin Peaks, The X-Files, and American Horror Story.

Multi-award-winning drag supermonster Myrtle Montgomery will be your host, embodying her namesake Myrtle Snow: the quirky, fashion-forward witch from American Horror Story. Myrtle has summoned a coven of local drag icons in the first instalment of what’s to become her annual Halloween show.

First up is psychedelic supermodel Blink Bogan as Agent Dana Scully from The X-Files. Summoned from Twin Peaks are stellar drag kings Rocky and Amoeba Geezer as toy boy Bobby Briggs and Agent Dale Cooper. Everyone’s favourite takatāpui sex witch and activist Vixen Temple will be Audrey Horne, while Pōneke’s it girl Bunny Holiday will play the it girl of Twin Peaks: blonde bombshell Laura Palmer.

Enter the American Horror Story universe and there’s the gorgeous Dusty Daze as Sister Jude, drag thing Dickslexia as the wicked Madison Montgomery, Sugar Tits as the iconic Countess, and newcomer Miss Magenta Moans as the hot yet tragic housekeeper Moira O’Hara.

Expect a “fun, eccentric, sexy, dramatic celebration of the ‘outsiders’”, Myrtle says. “That’s exactly what drag is. Horror cult-classics… and the art of drag are so similar because they are both theatrical, campy celebrations of subverting societal norms.”

Both also have a dedicated and passionate fan base, so head down to Ivy Bar on the 16^th of October and witness this epic lineup giving it their all to play and slay as the characters you love.
