Stage spooktacular by Madelaine Empson
Got skeletons in your attic? Join The Circus Hub for the spectacular, spine-tingling showcase RAW: Out of the Attic!, featuring live circus acts, costume prizes, and family fun on Saturday the 17th of October. Tricks and treats combine in this spooky Circus Hub fundraiser co-directed by Leanne Jenkins and Char McGrath.
Char, who performs a duo act with Liam Sharpe on the night, says the cabaret-style showcase features a lineup of Circus Hub trainers and students performing aerials such as lyra, trapeze, and straps, as well as plate spinning and hair suspension. “The theme takes our audience on a journey through different corners of an old attic – bringing to life forgotten relics, from discarded childhood items like the old Barbie forgotten in a box, to the creepy, dark shadows and demons lurking in the attic corners.”
As for the Halloween focus, it’s not just seasonal.
“Circus and spookiness complement each other because both rely on pushing beyond the ordinary and playing with the unknown. In circus, aerialists suspended high above the ground and performers executing amazing feats naturally evoke an eerie, captivating sensation. A fusion of theatrical character work and spooky aesthetics invites audiences to immerse themselves fully into a realm where the impossible becomes eerie, and the extraordinary feels delightfully haunted.”
Roll up, roll up the ladder to the attic and support The Circus Hub in Newtown, “where folks of all backgrounds and fitness levels can come together to find what feels good in their bodies”.
